Peace Mission of General Lebed (PMGL), Pyatigorsk - Russia

PMGL was founded by Gen. Alexander Lebed in 1998 as “Peace Mission in the North Caucasus”. It joined the international network of FEWER in 1999. The main direction of PMGL’s work in the North Caucasus is supporting the search and release of hostages and illegally detained persons. PMGL is also involved in implementation of peacemaking projects and initiatives in cooperation with the Russian authorities and civil society organisations. PMGL has unique expertise in security issues in the Northern Caucasus.

Network of Ethnological Monitoring and Early Warning of Conflict (EAWARN), Moscow - Russia

EAWARN is an independent expert organisation founded in 1993 on the basis of the Institute for Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IEA RAS). In 1999, EAWARN was registered as a regional non-government organization. Its goal is to monitor the situation in ethnic policy in the Russian Federation and other post-Soviet states. The experience and information EAWARN experts have collected over the years contributes to improving the ethnic policies in Russia and the states of the former Soviet Union.

Dialogue with the World (DWW), Moscow - Russia

DWW is a project led by the famous Russian explorer and documentary film-maker Leonid Kruglov. The project attempts to show to a wide audience that mutual understanding and unity are achieved through the respect to difference and unlikeness. Documentary films and texts, created in the frameworks of the project, capture and document original ethnographic material about lifestyles, customs, beliefs and rituals, as well as the economic and political life of different unique cultures, from the indigenous and archaic to the most modern and advanced.
